Our Mission

To document, increase understanding of and foster African American contributions to the history and development of St. Mary’s County while advocating for improvements in health, education, and community building for all citizens of St. Mary’s County.

UCAC is a non-profit organization that researches and supports Black history in Southern Maryland. We preserve and promote the rich heritage of Black communities in St. Mary's County. Through our dedicated efforts, we aim to create awareness, foster inclusivity, and inspire future generations to celebrate the contributions of Black individuals in shaping the local history and culture.
